Week in Pictures Days 1-8

I decided to start something new this year on my blog, every Thursday I am going to post pictures of our previous week, usually just one picture per day.  I love looking bag at the old posts to see what we were doing a year ago, so I thought it would be cool to be able to look back at a picture from every day of 2014.  This first week has been uneventful, but hopefully I will remember to take better pictures each day going forward.

Day 1 - Wednesday January 1, 2014
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday Kevin!  We got up early (we didn't even make it until midnight on New Years Eve!) and went to the grocery store.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing and taking walks outside.

Day 2 - Thursday January 2, 2014
We hung out at home waiting for the snow to start late Thursday.

Day 3 - Friday January 3, 2014
We woke up to 6 inches of snow, so it was another day hanging out at home.  But, this time Elizabeth got to try bananas for the first time!  I don't think she's a huge fan!

Day 4 - Saturday January 4, 2014
Our baby turned 5 months old!!!!!!  Time is going by way too quickly!

Day 5 - Sunday January 5, 2014
We finally ventured out of the house! And, did lots of reading that night!

Day 6 - Monday January 6, 2014
David was back at work, we were back in our routine - walking him to work, lots of playing, eating and sleeping!

Day 7 - Tuesday January 7, 2014
David was home sick, and it was way too cold to go outside with a high of 10 degrees.

Day 8 - Wednesday January 8, 2014
Another sick day at home for David and another day of VERY cold temps, so we cancelled our mommy/baby coffee.  Liann came to visit us though!  EVERYTHING goes in the mouth now, but she especially loves her giraffe, Sophie.

I promise there will be more of a variety of pictures, but right now it's been so cold we have been stuck inside, and I think we all have cabin fever!

5 Months!

I am only 2 days late with the 5 month post!  We do not have a 5 month appointment with the doctor, so we don't have any formal stats.  My very official way of weighing Elizabeth is weighing myself and then weighing myself holding her...I am sure it is very reliable;)

A lot has changed in the past month with our "little" baby!  The week before Christmas two bottom teeth came in!  The weekend before my parents were babysitting and my dad said he felt like there was a tooth coming through, sure enough a few days later there it was!  Then, the next day or so we saw another one!  There have been a few times that Elizabeth seems to have been in pain, but nothing too bad (or at least for us;)).  The other big changes are starting to sit up and rolling over.  She has been able to roll over for a long time now, but now Elizabeth rolls over every time we put her in her crib.  The first few nights it was tough, we would put her down, she would roll onto her tummy, hold herself up with her arms and cry until we rolled her back over.  Now though, she actually prefers to sleep on her tummy, she rolls over as soon as we put her in her crib and she goes right to her tummy and seems more comfortable.

Which brings up another point - sleep training.  We were going strong before Christmas, but with traveling, and us not staying consistent....we weren't very successful for very long.  Finally Friday night after David was the one getting up, he agreed she was not getting a good sleep.  So, Saturday we started again, and so far, so good!  I realize I am only talking two days here, but after two nights of successful sleep and three days of 2+ hour naps, it feels great!!  And, our happy baby is back again!

The biggest news is that Elizabeth started solids!  We started with rice cereal last week, she did well, but had no concept of actually swallowing the food.  Then, we did 3 days of bananas, she was not impressed.  However, today she tried avocado and LOVED it, she actually swallowed it and wanted more!

Here are a few pictures!  The older Elizabeth gets, the harder it is to take pictures when she is moving all over the place.  She wanted no part of the monkey and she was done by the last picture.

1st Christmas

We are home and exhausted from a wonderful first Christmas for Elizabeth!  Our trip started last Sunday when we headed down "home" (well where I consider home) to northern Virginia so that Elizabeth could meet my grandmother.  Sunday night we met up with Kara, Kevin and Sarah for dinner.

On Monday morning we stopped at Arlington cemetery to visit my grandfather's grave before heading to see my grandmother.

We had such a nice visit with my grandmother, and I realized while we were there that Elizabeth and my grandmother are almost a century apart!  My grandmother will be 100 in April.  She really enjoyed meeting Elizabeth, it was sweet seeing them together.  My dad was also there so that we could get a picture with 4 generations!

Next, we headed to Pennsylvania to my parent's house.  This past week was so relaxing and fun, we did a ton of eating, sitting around, watching TV, and playing Catch Phrase.  Tuesday night was church, Wednesday was Christmas, and the rest of the week was hanging out, we had a great time!  Friday we went to brunch at Hershey Hotel before heading home today.  We were also able to Skype with David's family and Jill and Frank.
