Week in Pictures Days 23-30

I am only one day later than I usually try to post these!  But, now I am having a hard time remembering what we did last Friday;)

Day 23 - Thursday, January 23, 2014
It's still been freezing, which means lots of online shopping.  Elizabeth's drawers are so full they barely close!  Her valentine pajamas came in the mail on Thursday, so I washed them and she wore them right away!

Day 24 - Friday, January 24, 2014
We had a day of playing in the house, it was still FREEZING!!!!!!David's friend was in town from Texas, so he came over to meet Elizabeth and then the two of them went out for the evening - I was asleep by 9:30!  Elizabeth is back to rolling on her stomach during naps, but for some reason, she doesn't do it much at night.

Day 25 - Saturday, January 25, 2014
We woke up to no heat in our apartment!  This is one time I do not miss owning a home, we made a call and by 5pm Saturday night we had a new system!  We had a lazy day, went out to lunch and did lots of playing!

Day 26 - Sunday, January 26, 2014
We took a couple walks, and went to Hoboken for a trip to Carlo's Bakery since we hadn't been there in a while, and stopped at Verizon for David to get a new phone.  Another laid back weekend day!  I took this picture of our video monitor.  Elizabeth woke up about an hour into going to sleep for the night, David went to check on her....whenever we go in to check on her in her crib, she grabs our hands, it is so hard not to stand there forever.

Day 27 - Monday, January 27, 2014
The super bowl is on Sunday and both teams are staying in Jersey City..at hotels about a 10 minute walk from us!  So, we walked David to the ferry and then did some stalking, no sightings yet.  But, the security is CRAZY around us!  A friend came over to visit, Elizabeth tried sweet potatoes for the first time, and then we had our music class. Elizabeth loved it!  Then, we had the joy of walking back in 20 degree temps where our building was having a fire alarm that lasted 45 minutes!! To say I was freezing when we got inside was an understatement....E on the other hand was toasty warm in all her layers and blankets!

Day 28 - Tuesday, January 28, 2014
I was changing Elizabeth on Tuesday morning and noticed a rash on Elizabeth.  I decided to just keep an eye out on it.  I fed her some sweet potatoes, we played and then when I went to change her, I noticed the rash was worse.  So, I made a dr. appointment (our doctor just opened another office not even a 5 minute walk down the street from us, it is great!!) and by the time we got there, the rash was literally from head to toe.  The conclusion is that it is from a cold or the sweet potatoes.  By Tuesday night it was gone, so in a week we will try sweet potatoes again, and if the rash returns, we will obviously have our answer.  While we were there, the doctor was remarking how mild mannered Elizabeth is, and asked if he could bring in some med students to practice looking at her eyes.  She was awesome and just sat there, they were all impressed how calm she was the entire time!  David and I are no longer needed by the way, Elizabeth grabs her bottle off the counter (obviously if we are holding her in front of it), and holds it herself while she eats:(

Day 29 - Wednesday, January 29, 2014
We went to our normal Wednesday coffee and then had fun playing at home.  Elizabeth is officially sitting up by herself now!!

Day 30 - Thursday, January 30, 2014
Still cold!  Elizabeth and I got together with some friends and their babies in one of the playrooms in another girl's apartment building.  E is so observant, she loves to stare at the other babies, I think she sat there just doing that for the 2 hours we were there!  She also held a baby boy's hand while we were there...the mom and I were laughing at how we will probably remember how cute it was forever!  David was not impressed;)  A pic of more new clothes...

Week in Pictures Days 16 - 22

Day 16 - Thursday, January 16, 2014
On Thursday we went to a friend's apartment to play and eat lunch.  Her baby is only 3 days younger than Elizabeth.  When we came home, she tried pears for the first time!  The verdict is still out...

Day 17 - Friday, January 17, 2014

All but one of us got a late start on Friday morning!  It was a busy day, lunch with friends and then coffee with another!

Day 18 - Saturday, January 18, 2014
Tax season is here in full force!  David had to go into work, so E and I took the ferry over the Manhattan with him and met a friend for some shopping.  It was a cold day!

Day 19 - Sunday, January 19, 2014
What else would we do when David is at work but send him selfies;)!

Day 20 - Monday, January 20, 2014
Another selfie!  We also started a music class on Mondays!  Elizabeth LOVED it!  She was so happy and laughing the entire time!

 Day 21- Tuesday, January 21, 2014
Snow!  We got about a foot of snow on Tuesday.  When we left to walk David to the ferry, it wasn't even snowing, by the time we got there the sidewalks and streets were already starting to cover up.  You can't see the snow in the pictures, but if you look at the skyline in the background, you can barely see it because of the snow.

Day 22- Wednesday, January 22, 2014
I was finally able to get a picture of Elizabeth's teeth....you just have to look very closely!  We are back to FREEZING cold temps, which means we are stuck inside.  Luckily we have a friend in our building with a 3 month old, so we hung out with them for the afternoon.

Week in Pictures Days 9 -15

Day 9 - Thursday January 9, 2014
It finally warmed up enough for us to go on a walk and get some fresh air!  David was still home from work because of his cold, but it did us all some good to get out.  The water outside our building was still partially frozen!

Day 10 - Friday January 10, 2014
David finally made it back to work.  Elizabeth has discovered her toes, she LOVES them.  She is so flexible she is able to "taste" them.  I put her down for a nap and noticed on the video monitor she was chewing on something, I went in to find she had taken off her own sock and had it in her mouth.  Her feet seem to provide her with a lot of entertainment.

Day 11 - Saturday January 11, 2014
A rainy day!  We were on our way out to try a new restaurant in our neighborhood for dinner and we had yet another fire alarm.  At least we were already going out.  A few guys sitting at the bar behind us at dinner were talking to Elizabeth and couldn't stop telling us how cute she was.

Day 12 - Sunday January 12, 2014
Another low key day at home.  Luckily Liverpool won!  Elizabeth loves her new jump-a-roo, she can't get enough of it!  We took a walk to our favorite bakery Cocoa, it was a great Sunday.

Day 13 - Monday January 13, 2014
Back in our routine of walking David to the train station in the morning!  Elizabeth has so many hair bows and I never remember to put them on her, she doesn't even notice them when I put them on her.  We had a day full of playing and hanging at home!

Day 14 - Tuesday January 14, 2014
Rainy Day AGAIN!  We went to lunch with a friend and came home to make Fidget Pie for dinner..for my first attempt, it wasn't bad.

Day 15 - Wednesday 15, 2014
Elizabeth and I went to our weekly coffee with other moms and babies.  It's so cute to see the babies reactions to each other!  Then, we came home and she exhausted herself jumping and playing!

Santa Claus

I realized last night that I never blogged about Elizabeth's first visit to Santa Claus...better late than never!  We (well really just me) decided that we should visit the Macy's Santa Claus in NYC.  I knew it could be risky given how insane Macy's there is during the holidays, but I wanted our first trip to be special - it's funny how many things we have done "for Elizabeth" that she could obviously care less about at this point;)  Anyway, we met David after work on the first Friday of December.  Once we made our way up 8 escalators to the very top floor, we were thrilled to hear the line was only 30 minutes!  The elf told me on the weekends it can get up to 4 hours!  Macy's has a really neat setup, as you are in line, you walk through the North Pole and there are plenty of things to for kids to look at and stay occupied.  They also have multiple Santas, so when it's your turn, the elf escorts you to a private room - genius idea, I would hate to think of the line if they only had one Santa Claus!

Elizabeth was awake for about 5 minutes in line and then she passed out.

Right before we walked in to see Santa she woke up - which explains the confused look on her face.  Let me preface these pictures by saying that with the exception of the picture of just Elizabeth and Santa Claus, they are hideous.  I can see these pictures ending up in some awkward Christmas photo display, or on the Ellen show when she makes fun of awkward family photos.  But, at the bargain price of $50 (!!!!!!) for 3 photos, and a memorable event, we had to buy them.

Every time I look at the one of the 3 of us with Santa I crack up, I don't know what's worse - the look on my face, or the way David is sitting!  And, I have to be honest when I say I was a little disappointed that Elizabeth wasn't screaming when she sat on Santa's lap...I LOVE pictures of little kids crying with Santa (yes, I know, so mean but so true).  We had such a nice time, and I can't wait until next year when she is older and understands more.

The whole experience was exhausting as you can tell based on the Path train ride home:)

Week in Pictures Days 1-8

I decided to start something new this year on my blog, every Thursday I am going to post pictures of our previous week, usually just one picture per day.  I love looking bag at the old posts to see what we were doing a year ago, so I thought it would be cool to be able to look back at a picture from every day of 2014.  This first week has been uneventful, but hopefully I will remember to take better pictures each day going forward.

Day 1 - Wednesday January 1, 2014
Happy New Year and Happy Birthday Kevin!  We got up early (we didn't even make it until midnight on New Years Eve!) and went to the grocery store.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing and taking walks outside.

Day 2 - Thursday January 2, 2014
We hung out at home waiting for the snow to start late Thursday.

Day 3 - Friday January 3, 2014
We woke up to 6 inches of snow, so it was another day hanging out at home.  But, this time Elizabeth got to try bananas for the first time!  I don't think she's a huge fan!

Day 4 - Saturday January 4, 2014
Our baby turned 5 months old!!!!!!  Time is going by way too quickly!

Day 5 - Sunday January 5, 2014
We finally ventured out of the house! And, did lots of reading that night!

Day 6 - Monday January 6, 2014
David was back at work, we were back in our routine - walking him to work, lots of playing, eating and sleeping!

Day 7 - Tuesday January 7, 2014
David was home sick, and it was way too cold to go outside with a high of 10 degrees.

Day 8 - Wednesday January 8, 2014
Another sick day at home for David and another day of VERY cold temps, so we cancelled our mommy/baby coffee.  Liann came to visit us though!  EVERYTHING goes in the mouth now, but she especially loves her giraffe, Sophie.

I promise there will be more of a variety of pictures, but right now it's been so cold we have been stuck inside, and I think we all have cabin fever!

5 Months!

I am only 2 days late with the 5 month post!  We do not have a 5 month appointment with the doctor, so we don't have any formal stats.  My very official way of weighing Elizabeth is weighing myself and then weighing myself holding her...I am sure it is very reliable;)

A lot has changed in the past month with our "little" baby!  The week before Christmas two bottom teeth came in!  The weekend before my parents were babysitting and my dad said he felt like there was a tooth coming through, sure enough a few days later there it was!  Then, the next day or so we saw another one!  There have been a few times that Elizabeth seems to have been in pain, but nothing too bad (or at least for us;)).  The other big changes are starting to sit up and rolling over.  She has been able to roll over for a long time now, but now Elizabeth rolls over every time we put her in her crib.  The first few nights it was tough, we would put her down, she would roll onto her tummy, hold herself up with her arms and cry until we rolled her back over.  Now though, she actually prefers to sleep on her tummy, she rolls over as soon as we put her in her crib and she goes right to her tummy and seems more comfortable.

Which brings up another point - sleep training.  We were going strong before Christmas, but with traveling, and us not staying consistent....we weren't very successful for very long.  Finally Friday night after David was the one getting up, he agreed she was not getting a good sleep.  So, Saturday we started again, and so far, so good!  I realize I am only talking two days here, but after two nights of successful sleep and three days of 2+ hour naps, it feels great!!  And, our happy baby is back again!

The biggest news is that Elizabeth started solids!  We started with rice cereal last week, she did well, but had no concept of actually swallowing the food.  Then, we did 3 days of bananas, she was not impressed.  However, today she tried avocado and LOVED it, she actually swallowed it and wanted more!

Here are a few pictures!  The older Elizabeth gets, the harder it is to take pictures when she is moving all over the place.  She wanted no part of the monkey and she was done by the last picture.
